Post Marathon Recovery Nonsense

Did you see my guest post for Jen about how yoga has benefited my running? Please check it out!

Let’s have a chat about all the goodness that is going around in my brain:

Merci, Spoons!

Merci, Spoons!

Thank you all so much for your congratulations on my race–it meant so, so much to me!

Something that will also mean a lot to me, as well as many others? Buying this adorable shirt (which I will soon be sporting) to support Smitha’s daughter and her Serena’s Crusaders to fight Epilepsy.

Erica also has an amazing raffle for Alexandra’s Playground, a foundation in memory of a friend’s daughter who died at the age of 4. The foundation aims to bring laughter and play to children in underserved communities around the world!

Speaking of, I made a Blogging Friends in Real Life Page! It is under My Lyfe in my menu πŸ˜€ Can’t wait to add to it even more! The Phoenix Marathon weekend helped a lot, though πŸ˜€

Burning Man for Runners

I forgot to mention that at the beginning of the marathon they warned us to be wary of coyotes and snakes because (like with cacti) #Arizona. Awesome.

Monday and Tuesday, I was seriously like, did that really just happen? Oh, yeah, the pain deep vastus medialis quad (the sticky outy one above your knee on the inside) tells me so. But that will have to wait. I think that it is a minor strain–nothing that a little bit of rest won’t fix. And BOTH spin bikes at my apartment gym are broken (and they just emailed us about resigning our lease…) so it looks like I will be just chillin for a while.

Maybe the weekend went by so quickly because we ran so fast lol (I crack myself up).

I will do a full post-marathon mindset later–I know better than to do that in full (with all of my plans for the future) less than a week after the marathon. But suffice it to say, my mentality has been: total disbelief/total non-absorption (but not denial)–> OMG WHO AM I DID THAT REALLY HAPPEN –> omg who am i did that really happen –> Life is awesome! –> Life sucks take me back –> Asleep –> ok now things are normal but I am on the hook waiting to hear about the NYC Marathon and all I want to do is hear about the marathon and why won’t they just email me and dash my dreams but at least I have Chicago to fall back on holy crap I am going to be going to Boston next year holy &#*! –>

And how is your day πŸ˜‰

I fell asleep 7:30-8 on Monday and slept straight (well, with the move to the bed) to 530. Apparently I was still a bit tired + adrenaline let down.

The next night, though? Alex and I made up for it with a date night (don’t worry, I was asleep on the couch by 9:30) at one of our favorite spots, Seasons 52. Since we did the flights and flatbreads (our favorite deal), we ended up trying a few red and getting a full pour of the Lamadrid grenache (loved) and split the artichoke and goat cheese flatbread.

Then Alex got the mahi, we split the warm California golden beet salad, and I had the lump crab salad.

And then we finished that off with 3 desserts, because our awesome waiter Mario wanted us to try his favorite.

So we had the raspberry and chocolate chip ganache brownie (my fave), the caramel macchiato (Mario’s fave), and the pecan pie (Alex’s fave). We were all happy πŸ˜€ A great night before he has to disappear for M-ICU.

What was the last experience that you had that seemed to POOF disappear before your eyes?  You are not allowed to say your wedding haha.

How do you deal with a post-awesomeness high? We also went to Chicago q on Sunday after I got back πŸ˜€ SO MUCH AWESOME THIS WEEK
