Now that the Olympics are over,
I have nothing to live for I need to fill hours in new ways and look forward to new things. Or return to old things. So just what is keeping me going?

Now that the Olympics are Over
I’m thinking about some of those weirder workouts that I mentioned (and that I’ve participated in!) on Tuesday. Thank you all for saying that my favorite sorts are not weird btw. Now, can we convince the rest of the world of that?
I’m also thinking about making myself more accountable for my own fitness pursuits. I am a huge proponent of injury prevention (especially core and glute exercises!) obviously, and during my own marathon training, I’ve always been very good about getting my own PT, yoga, strengthening etc done. The problem right now? I’m a) still scared of pissing off my body and b) I’m doing just enough and just well enough to be doing fine. Because I’m doing “fine,” I’m not holding myself accountable for doing my PT, for really getting after my strength training.
Well, now that the Olympics are over, I have reminded of how much I’ve let myself slip. Those fitness goals? HA forget the strength based ones! Fortunately, two circumstances have arisen to help get me back on track. The first is a studio review that I am doing for a newer fitness studio that has opened near my apartment (follow me on IG stories for hints!). I’ve gone 3 times and it is kicking. my. ass. Both humbling and also stimulating and I’m thinking about continuing on with them even after my starter pack ends! A full review will be coming!
Secondly, I’m going to be running the Magnificent Mile Half Marathon in two weekends! I also have an entry to give away, so stay tuned for that soon. I know I won’t PR this half, but I just want a strong race (and minimal bathroom breaks).

I’m focusing on getting well. Unfortunately, the biopsies from my doctors appointment last week confirmed that my Crohn’s Disease is indeed active again aka I’m out of remission, likely as a result of taking me off the Methotrexate and the huge stressors in my life from this spring. Currently, I’m streamlining certain aspects of my life to give myself the best chance for recovery. And that includes putting the family making on hold until we know I am (physically) stable.
While we are waiting to get back to the fertility pursuits, I’m getting serious about adding a fur baby. I even took a breed selector quiz yesterday, and we got Corgi as a 96% match! And then I saw this on IG yesterday, and it has been sustaining me since.
Now that the Olympics are over, I’m realizing it is basically September, and HOLY CRAP. A) This summer has been crazy B) all of that stuff I wanted to get accomplished? HA C) Alex -> interviews and D) fall is around the corner. I am a big supporter of slowing the f down and not rushing the seasons, but I will admit that I did buy Pumpkin Spice Cheerios on Monday. I have no shame as the reviews have said that they are good year round. But fall will bring winter, and winter wasn’t bad last year, but the 2 winters before were polar vortexes (vertices?) and I know that I can’t get excited about that!
I’m also hoping that I’ll have more time to work on my book. I’ve been a bit uneven about working on it, even though I’m thinking about it constantly!
And with September comes the inevitable decision time that I know is coming and that I’m pretty well and prepared for and ready for, but still: Boston Marathon Registration. I have a feeling that I am going to feel about it somewhat like I did during the race itself: excited for all my friends and checking in and congratulating people while being accepting of what has happened, but, at the same time, it’s going to be a long few weeks. I honestly hadn’t realized that Boston registration was coming until I realized that the Olympics were over and September was coming.
To end on a lighter note, now that the Olympics are over, I (and Alex) are able to watch other TV nonsense again. That means that the Real Housewives of Various Cities are going to have new episodes again, and Alex and I can take back up watching The Last Kingdom, which is like the Tudors meets Game of Thrones (it’s on Netflix).Just what is Suz up to now that the #Olympics are over?
