I needed this late summer girls weekend. Not your typical girls weekend, with clubs and carrying on, but with my mom and my fur daughters! Plus, I accomplished another of my summer fitness goals!

Friday started with a easy but WINDY run on the lake. Holy moly was it windy. I still don’t have running sunglasses (since I lost mine), so I’m running in my hat, and there were a few times that I almost lost it. Once my hat was ripped off my head as I was running to CES coaching, and I literally had a panic attack as I ran off after it. This particular hat is my favorite because it is a) the most comfortable and functional and b) my MCM marathon hat (my first marathon). So yeah, never letting that sucker go!
Then it was time for our first visit to the vet, and she was a very good girl!
Afterwards, I took the pup to the park, as many of you saw in Instagram. We like big sticks and we cannot lie.
Speaking of, have you met Ridley yet?
Mom finally got here and we went to Sultan’s Market for a quick lunch (we were both starving) before coming back home for puppy time! Mom got extended puppy time because I had a few clients to train, but then I came back and fixed dinner (Hello Fresh honey mustard salmon and Israeli couscous–use code ABA8GF for $40 off your first box!). So we sat out on the balcony and drank a $6 bottle of Sauvignon Blanc and ate dinner and it was everything.
I woke up and had my half caff coffee (ps, if you haven’t gotten the Archer Farms Pecan Pie coffee, GO AND DO THAT RIGHT NOW) with a cinnamon raisin bagel thin, handful of chocolate chex (because, chocolate), and some nut butter and then played with Ridley for a bit before heading out for my run. She was sleeping on my lap. I couldn’t move her!
I don’t know if I was inspired by the fact that 20 milers were in the air (including the CES 20 miler–I can’t believe it has been a year!) or what, but I went out for my morning run and just kept going. I just want to say that it felt gooooood. I missed coaching (and I would have seen Deena again!) but I needed to run this for myself.
Super comfortable pace, just kept chugging along, and I accomplished my Summer Fitness Goal of a sub 2 hour half marathon without a potty break (#CrohnsDisease can suck it). So between last weekend’s race and this weekend, all of my summer running goals were accomplished!
You know what followed: BRUNCH.
I took Mom to Orange, and we shared the pancake flight (Mexican Independence Day version), eggs, bacon, and rye toast. Oh and pot of decaf coffee. Because, you know, hydration.
Apple Cinnamon Chilaquiles (with baked apples, sauce, and cinnamon sugar fried tortilla strips), Pina Colada (dried pineapple, coconut whipped cream, dried coconut), Flan (custard, caramel sauce, strawberry), Tres Leches (peaches, whipped cream, triple milk sauce). All with buttermilk pancakes. DE FREAKING LICIOUS.
Then we went for a walk about before returning to the pupper and taking her to Petco to get a bed and some new toys and treats!
I needed a treat myself by the time we got back, so I cut up some veggies and tortillas with some hummus and also had a protein smoothie.
I made sure to get some Zoe time in, though, and I went and cuddled with her while the puppy was entranced by her new toys. I think she is getting a bit tired of being cooped up, so this week, I’m really going to work on getting her out of the bedroom and into the rest of the apartment.
We went to Standard Market for dinner so that we could sit outside. Mom got the lamb burger with sweet potato fries, and I got the newly redone Big Tuna salad (sesame crusted rare ahi tuna, mango, cucumber, snow peas, wontons) and an Illusive Traveler grapefruit shandy.
Stuffed after, but Froyo was necessary on the way home.
Then I fell asleep on the floor with the puppy. And was so zonked that Mom had to do the final walking!
Pup did a great job sleeping though the night–I was able to sleep until 6! I had a leisurely breakfast and then went to the gym to just get myself moving around. My back was talking to me a little bit–I had a rather higher mileage week than I had been planning on, and let’s be honest, everything makes me paranoid that has to deal with it. My foot feels better, so of course I need to have paranoia about my back, right? Going to take it super easy for a few days and see what happens.
The rest of the day was rather leisurely–just trying to enjoy the time with my mom, work with the puppy and try to get Zoe to come out of hiding, and waiting for Alex to come home. We did take Ridley out to a dog friendly patio for lunch–let’s just say that I’m not the only one who thinks she is adorable!
This week is going to be busy–I have events 2 nights this weekend and one event all day long before I then have to rush to train clients, and somewhere during that day, I am going to have to come home to feed and take out the puppy.
