The last week of April (April 23-29, 2017) is National Infertility Awareness Week, a cause that is obviously near and dear to my heart, and VERY relevant, as I will be prepping for a Frozen Embryo Transfer (details on that to come). Infertility can happen to anyone, and it is far more common that you might think: chances are, you know someone who is dealing with infertility, whether they have to go to the lengths of IVF or not.

The truth is that 1 in 8 couples struggle to build a family.

Though, like my chronic illness, I would not wish for or choose to have issues with my fertility, I have discovered a community and a group of incredible women and men that I can’t imagine not knowing. I have been floored by the response–and I hope that my writing about my story continues to help give comfort, support, and a voice to those who feel that they can’t speak about their infertility journey.

There are several ways to get involved in Infertility Awareness Week. Check out the Schedule of Events and join in one particular event, the Walk For Hope Infertility Awareness Virtual Walk.

As I said, I have been blessed to meet some incredible people as a result of sharing my infertility journey, with Liz and Jamie being two of my rocks. Jamie is an fabulous writer at her own blog The Mom Gene and for multiple parenting magazines, and Liz is the Registered Dietitian behind Shaw’s Simple Swaps and the founder of the community Bumps to Baby

Together, we are hosting an Infertility Awareness Virtual Walk on the final day of NIAW!

You don’t have to do anything “special.”

All it takes is 3 seconds of your time to sign a petition committing to join us in our walk and in raising awareness (nonbinding, of course! But your name and your comment helps us build the community). We would love it you would share the petition on your social channels as well!

Then, on April 29th, gather friends and family and dedicate steps to your favorite or fellow infertility warrior! We would love if you would post your Walk of Hope on social media using the #BumpsToBaby and #WalkofHope, and that you consider buying and wearing a Live Laugh Love T shirt to wear with pride during your walk.

The pineapple is used in the TTC “Trying To Conceive” Community as a symbol of hope of new life, while traditionally, it has been a symbol of home, warmth, and friendship, a perfect symbol of community. Live, Laugh, Love reminds us that if we just remember to breathe, laugh, and love, we can get through anything. Find out more of the story behind the logo here.
