Friday Favorites: From Client Feedback to T-Rex Videos

Thank you all, so very much, for your support and reaching out in response to my news yesterday. Obviously, this week has been a bit of a change for me, but I have Friday Favorites all the same! Join in with me as we celebrate the best parts of our week!

Thank you, and much love, to Heather. I may be going through a bit of upheaval, I cannot imagine what she and Scott are still going through. Sending you all the positivity that I have, Heather.

New Opportunities with Old (and New!) Friends

Team Challenge for Crohn’s and Colitis Coaching

As I mentioned yesterday, I have been offered and accepted the role of coach for the Team Challenge Illinois (learn more and sign up to run Napa with us!). Not to repeat too much of what I already said, but Team Challenge is a substantive portion of what got me into serious endurance running in the first place. The inspiration that I culled from watching my mom walk a half marathon in my honor with Team Challenge inspired my first half marathon,

Apparently, Team Challenge inspired my later wardrobe choices and my coaching logo!

and set me on the path that is now my career and passion! I am so excited to be there not only to coach a new group of runners but also to really be representative of a Crohn’s Disease patient who has not only survived, but has thrived. Running taught me to believe. I hope I can inspire the same feeling for another family dealing with Crohn’s, Colitis, or simply looking for more in life.

Figuring Out My Next Steps

I think perhaps one of the greatest opportunities afforded me by the loss of my job is the chance to change paths a bit, hopefully with the outcome of working with old and new friends. I have met so many people in running and fitness over the past few years, and my greatest hope is that I will get the chance to work with any of them, or mutual friends of ours. Obviously, I am looking at a rather niche market, and I might have to do some commuting to get what I want, job-wise, but I am willing to make the sacrifice if it means that I can have a job that I love that still allows me to prioritize my coaching duties when I am not at work. I will never give my clients less than my absolute best, and I need to make sure that whatever responsibilities I take on accommodate that fact.

Interacting with Clients

Positive Feedback from Clients

I have to humble brag for a moment, first about my Coach Suz Training clients, who are working so hard and are so receptive to my coaching, and also to take a moment to be just fulfilled from tips to toes with the feedback that I am getting from my clients. I checked in with quite a few of them this week, and I couldn’t be happier with their feedback and comments. I love that I am hearing a combination of “I am feeling so much stronger,” “I questioned the paces at first, but now I understand why,” “I look forward to each workout,” “That was tough! Loved it!” with heartfelt conversations about reassessing goals as we get further into training.

Feeling Inspired by My Clients

For those clients that are bloggers, I will let them discuss their own training on their own terms, but I want to say that I am as proud as those making progress in leaps and bounds as I am with those who are slowly but consistently overcoming obstacles from injuries that are healing, but inspiring their newfound love of other fitness pursuits, to negotiating single motherhood and full time jobs. These ladies inspire me every day with their driven natures but also their humility: they admit straight out when they just had a bad day. One of my clients is dealing with some major battles right now, and every time that she texts me with an update, I am so proud of her for taken an active role in her recovery and health.

Helping her work through a major rough patch at the beginning of the week was a huge reason that I was able to absorb and spring back from the craziness of Monday and Tuesday: I am where I need to be right now, and by sharing with her some of my coping mechanisms reminded me of how to help myself!

It is truly a gift to be a part of all of their lives. To all of my clients, thank you for that honor.

Also, let’s just say, best business meetings ever are those were you talk to great people!

Silly Things That Make Me Happy

Taking Advantage of My New-Found Freedom

Let’s be honest, it is rather lovely to workout when I want, fix meals at home, and watch actual TV in the background as I do my work. I’m sure that it will get a bit old after a few weeks if I haven’t found anything yet, but let’s just say, I had a great nap yesterday after lunch 😀

But still, I do need at least a part time job to get me out of the house!

Yesterday (Thursday) on Twitter, the hashtag #illneverbetoooldto was trending. I had to contribute, of course.

#IllNeverBeTooOldTo watch a Scooby Doo marathon

#IllNeverBeTooOldTo eat cereal all day (YOU ALL KNOW THIS IS TRUE)

#IllNeverBeTooOldTo think scaring the cat is funny

One of my favorites that I saw was #IllNeverBeTooOldTo eat raw cookie dough and lick the bowl (I responded that it is just going to boost your immunity).

Alright, who had TiVo? First of all, I would like to have it noted that Alex and I haven’t had DVR, ever, unless we were at home with our parents. Well, this week, our apartment building changed cable providers and, as part of the switch, we got DVR as part of the base cable subscription. Even more exciting, the DVR is supplied by TiVo! We had TiVo at home when I was growing up, and I can’t tell you how much I love the noises that it makes. It is like hearing video game sound effects and immediately being taken back to Ocarina of Time or Mortal Kombat. So, the fact that we have DVR + TiVo noises = endless entertainment for Suz. I love the noises.

Hilarious T-Rex Videos

You know that T-Rex Shoveling Snow video? Blame that for my newest obsession. I know that I mentioned this video yesterday, but I actually can’t handle the gloriousness of it. Watch this one if you ever skated (Sarah, you better watch). This one if you just want a good laugh. I tried to get the videos to embed in the post, but they wouldn’t. Regardless, please watch them, but not in public. You’ve been warned. And yes, I am now obsessed with T-Rex Tuesdays. YOU ARE WELCOME
