Friday Favorites 6/24

Favorite Food Creation : Green Curry Mahi Mahi with Zoodles

Green Curry Mahi mahi Zoodles are one of my favorite healthy dinners and gluten free to boot!

We all know that I love me some ugly food, and let’s just say that this was an UGLY bowl, but holy canoli stombroli (etc), the green curry Mahi Mahi with zoodles that I made Wednesday night for dinner was ON FREAKING POINT. Can you tell that it was tasty? Seriously the easiest creation ever, as well.  I rarely cook tasty things for just myself, but I had planned on Alex and I have this dish, and then he had to work late (this week was intern boot camp, which, as a chief resident, he runs, so Alex had a lot on his plate this week). But I had thawed the fish, I didn’t have anything better to do, and I knew it wouldn’t take too long. Good decision.

The sad part? I am now out of green curry paste….

Favorite Food Rediscovery : Melty Peanut Butter

Who doesn't love melted peanut butter over oats? The perfect healthy breakfast!

Specifically, melty Peter Pan Whipped Creamy peanut butter. Peanut butter is back in my life. I haven’t had it as much since being at work (I’m not having my morning English muffin or oats any more). Sunday night, I experienced a great deal of GI distress (which I alluded to on Monday), and the only thing that I could fathom eating was oatmeal. Egg white oats + cinnamon + sprinkles + melty pb = medicinal properties, right?

After my curry Mahi + zoodles bowl, I knew I needed to keep going, and I wanted a carb and some fat, so I grabbed a cinnamon raisin bagel thin and put some decadently melty pb on it. I love whipped peanut butter, cream cheese, mousse, etc, and when the pb gets melty, you know things are going well.

Favorite Snack : Ips Snacks High Protein Chips in Barbecue

If you win the Ips Snacks giveaway, I HIGHLY recommend the bbq. ZOMG They are so good. Unlike some BBQ chips that are just savory, these have a little sweet to the flavoring, and it makes them omgaddictive. I HOUSED my bag. There are three very substantial servings in there. Yeah….

Ips Snacks makes high protein chips and popcorn in amazing flavors to fuel your healthy lifestyle with healthy snacking! Check out the review at

Ok, so there are probably more favorites to my week than just food… right?

Favorite Screamin’ Deal / Mail Day / Fitness Purchase : Mizuno Sayonara 3 from Zulily

I may or may not have been matching my outfits to these shoes all week, and I am obsessed with them. I was introduced to the Sayonara during CES coaching for Winter Warriors (when my back was broken), and they were the first Mizuno’s that I ever found comfortable at all. I wasn’t sure if I was going to get another pair, but when I saw them for $40 from Zulily (affiliate link) and in this adorable color combo, you KNOW I had to get them!

Love my new Mizuno Sayonara running shoes!

(Taking my own advice because of heat and storm threat and running inside!)

Of course, I had to be 100% sure (because of the no-returns policy from Zulily), but the price made me pretty certain, lol. And so far I love them!

Favorite Bittersweet Moment : The Official End of Residency + Goodbye to Our Friends

We've reached the end of residency. We are going to miss you guys!

Well, the arrival of new intern residents at the start of the week means the departure of the senior residents at the end of the week. This is a very bittersweet moment for Alex and I–these people have been his colleagues and friends for the past 3 years, but we are so happy for those that are leaving to be going on to the next stages of their careers and training. The final sign out of pagers was last night, and we met up at Howells and Hood to celebrate with them. Many are leaving today for their new jobs and lives, and saying goodbye to our friends (who I know as well) en masse is a bit of a shock. But I am so proud of them all, and I wish them the best of luck in everything that they do.
