I don’t run a lot of races, but I try to have at least a few on the docket. With my current infertility struggles, I don’t have a clue where I will be with regards to fitness and running ability by this fall, but I want to have something to look forward to. It also means that I am being super picky choosey about what I invest my time in. I am not going to blow my hard earned miles, time, and money in just another throwaway race. That is why I have picked the Empowered Race Series for my late summer/early fall race!
Empowered Race Series Weekend of Run + Yoga + Sun + Fun
Oh, and it isn’t just a race, it is an experience. An entire weekend devoted to running (with multiple races) and yoga (all day err day) this August 5-6 in the Bay Area around San Francisco (one of my favorite places).
What makes this race weekend so perfect for myself and so many others is that there are so many options! There will be a 5K, 10K, AND a one miler on Saturday (hearkening back to PE, anyone?) and a half marathon on Sunday! I have no clue what I will be allowed to do by then, so I know that I am covered on all levels. To keep you limber and relaxed and ready to run your best race EVER, there will also be yoga flow classes throughout the weekend and a festival of vendors. Think Wanderlust 108 to the next level.
Even better? This is brought to you by the Sweat Pink/Fit Approach ladies, who are some of the most incredible people I’ve had the pleasure to meet. Not only are they accomplished runners (ultra marathons) and fantastic yogis (hello, Flex and Flow!), they are kind, genuine, hilarious, and savvy business women to boot. They’ve never met someone who won’t be their friend by the end of a run or a Sip N Sweat sesh.
Basically? This weekend is going to be a blast.
My Plans for the Empowered Race Series
I honestly don’t know what I will be able to do. I love me a half marathon–if you have listened to my Diz Runs podcast episode, you know that to be true. My half marathon last year helped me feel like an athlete again after such a long road of recovery following my sacral fracture. I may not be as fast as I used to be, but I don’t care–I worked just as hard during that half marathon as I did during my PR effort (our very first weekend in Chicago!).
Even if I am not in half marathon shape, I am going to get out there for the 5K (maybe just walking) or the 10K if I can run it! I will do the yoga that I am cleared for, and I will soak up every second of California sun and time with some of my favorite people!Join Suz + @sweatpink for a weekend of running + yoga! #empowerrace #sweatpink #coachescorner Click To Tweet
