Typically I get all Friday Favorites over here, but I thought that the Friday Five with the DC Trifecta was too much fun this week, so I had to chime in.
The theme is “what’s new?” Well, “what’s new” has been sprinkled throughout this week’s posts, especially yesterday’s, and because the events that are upcoming have some newness aspects to them but are basically par for the course in my life, I thought I would have a little fun with the whole thing and make it “So what else is new??” In the very dry, sarcastic understanding of the phrase.
Alex and were GREAT at cooking up a storm this week! We utilized the grill 3 of the days, Alex even cooked, and he brought me lunch for us to share every day! We had steak, chicken, pork, and turkey burgers, with sides of grilled veggies, sweet potatoes, and split a bottle of wine over a few days.
For lunch, he made us salads and brought along some sides. Susie and Alex having lean protein, veggies, and wine/beer for dinner and salads for lunches? So what else is new??? Well, for one, Alex cooked, we got to have some different things than the norm, and we used the grill. Oh, and the little fact that we had so many meals together.
I am racing tomorrow! I’m doing the Zooma half with quite a few fellow bloggy friends, and I am really freaking excited. Susie, running? Excited about a race? Other bloggers running races? So what else is new?? We will get to meet (definitely new!), and to be honest, I don’t run that many races anymore.
Edited to add: Unfortunately, this is a so what else is new that I would rather wasn’t the case–my hammy is tweaked, so it will likely be a no-go for me tomorrow (Saturday AM). Thank you all so much for the well wishes! I will speak to it more as I figure out what I am really dealing with, but I just can’t chance it when the past injuries from this spring.
I am a bit annoyed with my stomach at the moment. I’ll keep it clean, but it isn’t doing what it should be doing when it should be doing it. I think that it is all the sitting, and then with the running… yeah. A Crohn’s kid, having a stomach problem, So what else is new? I have decided to find more ways to work regular movement into my schedule. Just periodic, walk further than just to the bathroom or the fridge, movement.
EVERYONE MUST TRY THIS GREEK YOGURT. It is delicious. I saw it and was like ok I’ll try you, little friend. We are very good friends now. Me, eat Greek Yogurt? SO WHAT ELSE IS NEW? Well, the flavor, silly.
I’m so glad that you all approved of my orange shirt from our dinner at Merchant.
I just got it from a huge sale at C Wonder, and I have been dying to wear it, and it was the perfect opportunity. I just looked on the site and didn’t see it, but I also got this shirt, which I am also really excited about, that is the same cut (apart from the sleeves) with a similar overlay concept. And you can beat the price. Susie, buying multiples of things in different colors? Susie, getting suckered into a sale? So what else is new?? Again, you’ve got me. I am who I am! PS, if you have similar stylistic tastes as me with an extra dash of Lily Pulitzer, check out C Wonder. Love that place.
It’s Friday, I’m wearing Flats. So what else is new? #flatsfriday
Just a little fun to take you all into the weekend. As I mentioned yesterday, between the race, new friends, old friends, and enjoying the last drops of Alex time, I am going to do what I can to get some fun new stuff lined up for you this next week. ACTUAL NEW THINGS ON THE HORIZON:
I have a new protein powder that I want to have some fun with,
I am going to have to start cooking for myself again for lunch (WHAT),
I’m adding mileage back to my long run this upcoming week (again)
I’m continuing to study to become a real estate broker (Million Dollar Listing: Suzlyfe anyone?)
And I’m going to continue to try to not spend money, even though I actually do need to spend money and try on some new running shoes. Such is life. What is that paycheck for it I ain’t gonna spend it? I’m paying for my kid’s college with Monopoly money. It never loses value. Or with hot dogs.
So to close you all out, here is a little SNL Weekend update in true Chicago Style, with Harry Caray. The first part is the only part that actually goes with my above paragraph, but the second part (the video) is just too darn hilarious not to include.
Harry Caray (Will Ferrell) Hey! If I was a scientist, you know what I would clone? Hot dogs!
Colin: [not surprised] Really?
Harry: Think of all the possibilities, Norm! [Colin starts laughing to himself] Imagine, a world with…[doesn’t realize that Colin is now the anchor] Hey, what’s going on? [some applause]…Imagine…hold on! Imagine a world, uh…of – with an endless supply of hot dogs! You could have a hot dog anytime you wanted!
Colin: Well, Harry, you can do that pretty much now.
Harry: They’d be so abundant, they’d become our currency! 20 hot dogs would equal roughly a nickel. Depending on the strength of the yen, I’m not quite sure, but…you know what, I’m getting ahead of myself. Let’s just keep praying that we can clone one of these hot dogs.
Colin: [sighs] All right, Harry. What else happened in ’97?
Harry: Hey, Norm! Did you gain weight?
Colin: Actually, Harry, I’m Colin.
Happy Friday and first day of August, my friends! Have a great one, till we meet next!
What is “So what else is new” with you? And what is actually new?
If you could clone something, what would you clone (not seriously)?
If you were to have a hot dog/veggie dog type thing, what would you put on top?
