Lyfe Thinking Out Loud

Big News, Changes, Anniversaries, Yoshi

I mean, with a title like that, how can you afford not to read?

We are going to get straight to it. I didn’t have much time today (Wednesday) to write this, so you are getting the news rough and ready! Thank you to Amanda for Thinking Out Loud!

Big Anniversaries

Let’s start with the largest anniversary: Yesterday, December 7, 2016, was the 75th Anniversary of the bombing of Pearl Harbor. Pearl Harbor changed the course of American and world history, but it also changed the history of my family–my grandfather was actually stationed at PH not long after the bombing. I’ve been to the PH USS Arizona Memorial, and it was such a touching and solemn monument to duty, honor, and also to the loss of innocence. Thank you to all who have served and all those who fight for our freedom.

susie erin lunch date

December 7, 2014, was the 2 year anniversary of meeting Erin! I dearly miss our weekly lunch dates!

This time last year, I was 4 days into crutch lyfe with Sven and Olaf. I’m much happier with Zoe and Ridley. Even if they can be just as annoying 😀 (as I am writing this, Ridley is DESPERATE for my attention, and Zoe is just… ambivalent about everything, as usual).

Tomorrow is my parents’ 38th wedding anniversary! In a day and age when divorce is more the likelihood than staying together, I am in awe of the work that they have done to stay together through thick and thin. I am also really excited to be able to go home for a few days and see my WHOLE family!

Big Changes

Speaking of parents, we started part 1 of my IVF protocol last night! I CAN FEEL THE HORMONES COURSING THROUGH ME (actually I can’t, not yet. This is just birth control). But seriously, I am just ready for this whole thing to get going. I know the plan, but I don’t know what it actually going to happen. #herewego (background on what I am talking about)

Also, I have named the baby/baby to be Yoshi. As of yet, it is entirely fictional, is of ambiguous/unknown/undetermined gender, it eats everything in sight/requires constant feeding, and it involves eggs (hopefully not exploding). And Yoshi was always my character of choice in all games.

Big News

But the big new is… Alex matched at Northwestern for Gastroenterology Fellowship! We are officially staying at NMH (Northwestern Memorial Hospital/ for 3 more years. We found out at 11 yesterday, and though we’ve had an idea for a while, it was just so nice to have the confirmation (while I was on a walk with Ridley, who was wearing her coat).

She actually has no problem with her coat.

And, of course, the temps plummeted yesterday. And we are going to be living here…?

Luckily, however, I am joining Spyder as an ambassador, and I got my kit this week! You guys, I cannot WAIT to share their winter active line with you. You know how sometimes you get or see a product line and are kind of like, “Ok, well I like 3 of those 20 things.” I am seriously in love with every.piece. I’m going to make Alex photoshoot me this weekend in them. Wish us both good luck with that….

Tell me some big news, changes, or something totally random!!

Is your significant other good at taking pictures for you?
